Built by grapplers who kept forgetting Tuesday's class

A black belt standing on the mats of a jiu-jitsu academy

BJJ Learner started the way most training journals do: a notes app full of half-sentences like “knee cut — elbow??” written in the car after class, never read again.

Jiu-jitsu is the most detail-dense sport most of us will ever do, and almost all of us train it around jobs, kids and sleep. Two or three classes a week is plenty to get good — if nothing leaks between sessions. The leak is the problem. You drill a beautiful pass on Tuesday, and by Thursday it's a rumor.

So we built the tool we wanted: a journal fast enough to actually use, a technique library organized the way the sport actually works — positions, connections, chains — and a game planner that's honest about the difference between watching a technique and hitting it on someone who's resisting.

No feeds. No ads. No gamified junk. Just the loop that makes hobbyists improve like competitors: log → study → focus → roll → repeat.

What we believe

Mat time is sacred

Everything is designed to take minutes, not evenings. The app serves your training — never the other way round.

Earned, not watched

We separate what you’ve seen from what you can do. The top proficiency ranks can only be earned in live rolls.

Your data is yours

One-tap export of everything you’ve ever logged, even if you cancel. No ads, no selling your data. Ever.
